Tonka Rec
Recreational program for newer wrestlers
This group is designed for newer wrestlers in 1st to 5th grade. Our focus is on building the fundamentals of wrestling in a supportive and fun environment—ideal for athletes and families new to the sport.
Emphasis on basics: We teach skills, rules, and confidence - without pressure to compete right away.
Low-pressure, skill-building: Less focus on competition, more on learning and enjoying wrestling
Pathway to progress: By request, around mid-season, coaches will evaluate interested students to see if they’re ready to move up to the Tonka Elite group when appropriate.
This entry-level program is the perfect way to get started with wrestling and build a strong foundation for your child’s athletic future!
Practices are Tuesday/Thursday from 6:20-7:40pm
There are 2 seasons you can register for:
Season 1: November 18 to January 8
Season 2: January 13 to March 8
Wrestlers that show continued interest can be moved to the Tonka Elite group after evaluation and coach approval.
